Welcome Back!!!

Welcome back students! We cannot believe how quickly this summer flew by. Here are some updates about what CAN has been involved in over the past three months. Please go to calendars to see CAN’s fall meetings schedule. We are excited for a very busy and exciting year!

1. Over the past three months, CAN’s officers have been working diligently on their research project with Dr. Cohen Callow entitled, Making Connections: Community-University Collaboration in Southwest Baltimore. The project is funded with a grant from University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Center for Community Based Engagement and Learning. At this point, student and community researchers have been hired and the team is in the process of developing a survey that will be given to community members in Southwest Baltimore during the month of September!

2. SAVE THE DATE! The Second Annual Coffee and A Cause Fundraiser for CUPS Coffeehouse has been scheduled for December 6, 2014 at the SMC Campus Center from 10AM-2PM. Get excited for a morning of delicious food and drinks, live entertainment, silent auction, and most importantly donating to and learning more about a great organization!

3. One of CAN’s goals this year is to become an interdisciplinary organization. This means we are welcoming ANY student in any school at University of Maryland, Baltimore to join! Members can be involved in a variety of ways. The best way to keep updated is to join CAN’s email list. If you want to be a part of the email list and are not already, please email preinicker@umaryland.edu.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our First Fall Meeting on Monday, September 8 at 12:15 in SSW Room 4E22!!
